In an electrical equipment of the kind comprising a housing, a removable structural unit carrying electrical apparatus and normally mounted in the housing, and at least one multi-way connector such as a plug and socket arrangement between the housing and the structural unit, at least two attaching mechanisms of the sort described below are provided for facilitating the removal of the structural unit from'the housing. As shown, Fig. 1, a structural unit 1 is a sliding fit in a housing 2, electrical connection between apparatus (not shown), such as a radio receiver, mounted on the unit, and a cable form (not shown) on the housing, being effected by means of plugs 7, comprising spring contacts 8, on the housing, and co-operating sockets 14 on the unit, the unit being accurately located in the housing by means of two pegs 10 on the latter which engage holes (not shown) in the former. Four attaching mechanisms are provided, each comprising a slidable member 19, Fig. 2, which includes a rod 20 supported in holes in a U-shaped bracket 22 riveted to the inner face of a wall 4 of the housing. One end of rod 20 is threaded and fitted with a self-locking nut 28 which limits the axial displacement of the slidable member 19, and a helical spring 26 is located around rod 20 between the bracket 22 and a washer 27 seated against a circumferential shoulder 21 part way along the length of rod 20. A screw 32, captive at each corner of the front panel 18 of the unit 1, is screwed into a threaded hole 30 in a rectangular steel block 29 integral with rod 20 to engage and secure the unit 1 in its correct position in the housing 2. To remove the unit from the housing, three screws 32 are completely unscrewed, thus compressing the associated springs 26 so that, when the fourth screw 32 is unscrewed, said springs exert pressure of the front panel 18 to urge the plugs 7 out of engagement with the sockets 14. A plurality of housings may be secured side by side in a fixed framework, a plurality of units being mounted therein.
