Abstract

932,199. Gravity-separation apparatus. BABBITLESS. Jan. 18, 1962 [Jan. 18, 1961], No. 1946/62. Class 46. [Also in Group XXX] Containers 5, Fig. 1, on a moving endless band 1, are fed with a sand-and-water or like mixture at 6, and vibrated by a vibration generator 23 to separate the constituents. The water is decanted into a tank 7. The containers 5 are again vibrated, whilst in the inverted position, by the generator 23 so as to free them of the solids, which are collected in a vat 10. In Fig 5 the containers are secured to the periphery of a rotating drum. In the first embodiment the liquid may flow out of holes provided in the side walls of the containers, and may be received in a gutter extending along the endless band.
