Abstract

724,670. Sink and float apparatus. JARUZA AKT.-GES. CHUR. Feb. 3,1953, No. 3066/53. Class 82 (2). A sink and float apparatus has a paddle wheel arranged obliquely on one side of the bath, the paddles being joined by a cylindrical web at their edges and an annular web at right angles to the axis of rotation so as to form receptacles for raising the heavy solids. The cylindrical web may be of less axial length than the paddles and/or the breadth of the annular web is less than the radius of the paddle wheel. The webs may be extended to form a closed cup-like element, and the paddles and webs may be of perforated sheet metal. A bath 10 has a paddle wheel 11 mounted obliquely on one side in a casing 12. Paddles 14 are carried on the shaft 13 and a cylindrical web 16 and an annular web 17 form baskets 15 to contain the heavy solids. An inclined fillet is formed at the junction of each paddle 14 with the web 17 and prevents materials jamming between the bottom of the bath and the parts of paddles 14 not connected to the baskets 15. The paddle wheel may also carry scrapers to remove fine material passing through the perforations.
