Abstract
856,183. Centrifugal strainer separators. KLOCKNER-HUMBOLDT-DEUTZ A.G. May 28, 1959 [May 28, 1958], No. 18234/59. Class 46. A filtering shell 3, Figs. 3 and 4, within a coarsely-perforate supporting shell 6, (together forming the walls of a basket 1), is provided with axially-extending grooves 4 and projections 5 whose depth and height respectively decrease downwards to zero at the bottom of the shell. The supporting shell 6 has a flange 9 and is welded to a bottom 2 having a flange 16, the filtering shell 3 being clamped to the upturned rim of the bottom 2 by a reinforcing ring 7. Material to be centrifuged is introduced through a stationary pipe 45, Fig. 1, and conical shell 20 to a region between the basket 1 and a hood 17 mounted inside it. A hollow rotating shaft 23 extends through a hole in the bottom 2, and the bottom 2 is inserted between one set of springs 26 bearing against a collar 24 extending from the shaft, and another set of springs 27 bearing against another collar 25 extending from the shaft, the basket being thereby rotated. It is oscillated vertically by a crankshaft 30 connected by a rod 31 to the hood 17. The flanges 9, 16 on the basket cooperate with the upper and lower edges of a receptacle 34 for liquid. Solids spilling over the basket edge are received in a bunker 41. The outer casing 37 is supported by springs 40.
