A metal stacking box comprises an open topped rectangular box having a forwardly inclined front wall apertured at the top and having at its upper part an outwardly directed flange a<SP>2</SP> terminating in an upwardly directed flange a3 constituting a socket for a superposed box. Additional strength is provided immediately beneath the socket at spaced points by outwardly pressed cavities a<SP>6</SP> and also by outwardly pressed cavities a<SP>7</SP> in the box walls.
