Abstract

An additive composition for a lubricant comprises from 0,01 to 5 parts of a carboxylic acid containing from 6 to 29 carbon atoms in the molecule or a fatty oil, from 0,01 to 5 parts of a triaryl or trialkyl phosphate, and from 0,01 to 10 parts of a phosphorized and sulphurized terpene, all calculated as percentages by weight of the final lubricant composition formed therefrom. The lubricant composition may also contain from 0,2 to 20% of a detergent such as a carbonated barium alkyl phenate or sulphonate, and from 5 to 70% of an emulsifier such as a sulphated oil, a sodium hydrocarbon sulphonate or an alkali metal, triethanolamine or polyglycol salt or ester of oleic, stearic or a naphthenic acid or of cresol.
