Abstract
930,792. Making tubular cartons. R. C. CAN CO. July 7, 1959, No. 10883/63. Divided out of 930,791. Class 18. [Also in Group XXVIII] A method of making a multi-ply container having a pair of co-operating telescoping sections, comprises the steps of winding a plurality of plies of tape material to form inner and outer concentric container sections, the plies having pre-formed, transversely extending scored or perforated lines disposed at longitudinally spaced intervals such that, when the plies are wound, the scored or perforated lines on the plies forming the inner telescopic section will be in register along a circumference of the section, and the scored or perforated lines of the plies forming the outer telescopic section will be in register along a circumference of that section, the two sets of scored or perforated lines being spaced longitudinally of the container so that the inner and outer sections can be telescopically removed from one another after tearing along said sets of scored or perforated lines. As shown, paper tapes 2, 3, 4 and 5 having scored or perforated lines 45, 46, 47 and 48 are wound by a belt 43 on to a stationary mandrel and a rotary knife 44 severs the tube between adjacent pairs of scored or perforated lines to form individual containers.
