Abstract
978,053. Transformers and inductors. WILLEM SMIT & CO.'S TRANSFORMATORENFABRIEK N.V. July 27, 1962 [Aug. 9, 1961], No. 29019/62. Heading H1T. High-voltage transformer or inductor coil 1 has insulating former 3 composed of layers of insulating material and consisting of a cylindrical portion coaxial with the winding joined by transitional portions 7 to radially extending end portions 5, bands of crÛpe paper 8 being wound between layers in the transitional portion. The ratio between the number of bands of crepe paper and the number of insulating layers may increase in proportion to the distance from the winding. The former is first constructed as a tube and longitudinal slits are made in the layers to allow them to be bent to form the transitional and radial portions, the crÛpe paper bands being inserted, as at 8a, before bending. The cuts in successive layers or groups of layers are staggered. Potential gradient controlling rings 4 may be provided.
