The low-voltage winding 1 of a transformer is surrounded by a tubular wrapping 2 of pleated paper, the ends of which are splayed open as shown and the whole, including high-voltage coils 3 and insulating strips 4, is placed in a mould 6 and a first thin envelope of epoxide resin, free from fillers and solvents, is formed and hardened thereon. Metal screens 5 may be provided. The resin may be a hardenable metal-modified epoxide resin or a metal-organic glycidyl polyether, details of the composition of both and of the hardening times and temperatures being given.
