A shaft lining, particularly for a ventilating shaft, comprises a number of steel cylindrical sections 1 joined, as by welding 2, end to end and surrounded by rings 3 of channel-shaped cross-section and spaced apart axially of and welded to the sections. At the lower region of the lining the wall thickness thereof may be greater, and the rings larger.
