930,016. Welding by fusion. GUTEHOFFNUNGSHUTTE STERKRADE A.G. Jan. 18, 1961 [Feb. 16, 1960], No. 2063/61. Class 83 (4). A working platform for use in internally welding horizontal seams between superimposed vertical steel cylinders is suspended within the cylinders and carries an annular track on which a welding machine moves around the platform. An assembly for welding the actions of a wall shaft lining having inner and outer walls 13, 12 consists of platforms 1 . . . 6 rigidly interconnected and suspended by ropes 7. Welding machines 17 electrically driven on tracks consisting of rails 14 on platforms 2, 4 and overhead grooves 15 on platforms 1, 3 have preheater units mounted in front of the welding heads. Gases from the welding zones are extracted through pipes 22 slidable in sealed ducts 23 exhausted by fans 24. To align the platforms 1 . . . 6 with the plane of the joint being welded, fluid pressure jacks on platform 5 are engaged with brackets 27 secured to the inner wall 13.
