Abstract

1382229 Confining and removing dust generated in industrial processes A HOFFMANN and M HOFFMANN [trading as NIEMANN & HOFFMANN] 19 April 1973 [25 April 1972] 18928/73 Heading F4X A structure for enclosing apparatus, such as coking ovens, likely to produce dust and/or fumes comprises a plurality of vertical side walls 10, an outer ceiling 11, and an intermediate ceiling 12 made up of a plurality of individual side-by-side hoods 13 positioned below the outer ceiling 11. Each hood is provided with an arrangement of slots 18 and 19, and the hoods are spaced from the side walls 10 and from depending vertical skirts 14 to define narrow gaps 15 and 16. Suction is applied to the structure through suction funnels 20 in the outer ceiling 11, the funnels being connected to exhaust means 22 by way of pipes 21. A wall skirt 23 extends upwardly into the space between the ceilings 11 and 12, the skirt being spaced from the wall 10 above the ovens to define a gap 24. Dust etc. is removed from the interior of the structure by way of gaps 15, 16, 23 and the slots 18 and 19 into the space between the ceilings 11 and 12 from where it is exhausted through the funnels 20.
