Abstract
The invention comprises 5-fluoro and 5-trifluoromethyl-toluene-2,4-sulphonamides and their preparation by treating the appropriate meta-substituted toluene with chlorosulphonic acid and treating the resulting di-sulphonyl chloride with ammonia. The products may be converted into their alkali-metal salts. Pharmaceutical preparations having diuretic activity comprise the above compounds of the invention in an inert pharmaceutical diluent, suitably in the form of a tablet for oral administration or as a sterile isotonic aqueous solution for injection.
