Abstract

929,526. Filters in pipelines. AVERYHARDOLL Ltd. Jan. 15, 1962 [March 20, 1961], No. 10103/61. Class 46. [Also in Groups XXVIII and XXIX] A coupling for a flexible conduit comprises two hollow members 10, 11 releasably secured together and has a filter 36 provided with an external flange 41 which is located between the end of member 10 and a shoulder 35. The member 10 is secured in the socket 14 by bayonet projections in the form of rollers 16 mounted on pins 17 and engageable in bayonet grooves 18. The two members 10, 11 are locked against rotation by a latch pin 21 urged by a spring 23 into a hole 24. A releasing member 26 is capable of being locked against sliding movement by a hairpin wire 33 the ends of which are pivoted on a cross pin 28 extending between two lugs 29. The filter 36 is constituted by a metal frame 37 supporting inner and outer frusto-conical wire gauzes 38, 39. A non-return valve 44 is slidably mounted on a stem 48 carried by a spider 49 and is urged towards its seat 47 by a compression spring 51. For opening the valve 44 manually, the valve member 44 has formed on it an upstanding ear 52 in the outer face of which is formed a substantially oval recess 53, and a spindle 54 in the wall of the member 11 carries on one end a crank disc 56 on which is mounted an eccentric pin 57 projecting into the recess 53. An operating arm 58 is fixed to the other end of the spindle 54.
