929,431. Planing. FOSTER MAGNETO CO. Ltd., and A. R. J. FOSTER. July 8, 1959 [July 8, 1958], No. 21938/58. Class 83 (3). A lathe attachment for cutting keyways &c., comprises a tool-carrying slide member 16 in a guide 15 secured to an abutment means for fastening to a tool carriage and means between the member and the abutment means to reciprocate the tool 47. When a lever 21, Fig. 2, is moved clockwise by a handle, the slide 16 is carried with it, causing the tool to cut a groove. When a shoulder 26 engages the guide 15, the lever 21 slips in a slot 23 and moves a rod 54 to swing the tool 47 about a pivot 44 and produce a radiused end to the groove. The rod 54 may be mounted externally of the slide 16 and the lever 21 may be operated by an electric motor or an hydraulic jack.
