Abstract

<PICT:0929161/III/1> <PICT:0929161/III/2> Doors, for horizontal coke ovens, comprise support levers 13, Fig. 1, pivotally connected to the door body 3 which extend downwardly and outwardly from the door to engage in hooks 11 provided on the oven body so that the door bears against the oven body under its own weight, the support levers, which are constructed in pairs in the form of crank shafts, being mounted spherically in an adjustable eccentric bush 15 on the door body. The downward movement of the support levers is limited by adjustable stops. The bush may be adjusted by means of a spanner and secured in the adjusted position by a set screw. The crank-pins 12 may be replaced by a continuous rod. Fig 3 shows an alternative method of suspending the support levers 13 in the hooks 11a.
