Abstract
929,121. Injection. SEBAC NOUVELLE S.A. Aug. 28, 1959 [Sept. 8 1958], No. 29522/59. Class 71. [Also in Group XXXIII] A device for creating one or more zones of depression by the flow of a flat fluid jet comprises a slot 3, Fig. 2, through which the flat jet is discharged and a wall 1 perpendicular to the initial flow of the jet. A first body 6 is coupled by a support 7 to the wall 1 and the angle between the initial direction 9 of the jet and a straight line from the lip 10 of the slot which is tangential at 11 to the member 6 is so chosen in dependence of the fluid that the jet is deflected and forms a closed zone 8 of very high depression. Further bodies 15, 16 may be similarly positioned by suitable choice of the angles α1, α2, α3. For a jet of air α< 32‹, α1< 30‹. As shown in Fig. 3, the jet 3<SP>1</SP> is annular and the members 23, 24, 25 are positioned as above to provide zones of depression 29, 31: The jet induces a flow of ambient air 28 which increases the momentum of the jet. The ratio of the fluid pressure of the jet at the slot to the ambient air should not be greater than 30 and the distance h should be less than twelve times the slot thickness. In Fig. 4, the members 23, 24 are formed around a tube 22 which is the supply tube for the jet. As the jet is deflected it induces a flow of ambient air 28. The zones of depression may be connected to a liquid supply to introduce a spray into the jet or the device may be employed to produce a lift effect by adapting it to the wing of an aircraft.
