929,080. Packaging machines. VERSAPAK FILM & PACKAGING MACHINERY CORPORATION. Oct. 27, 1961 [Aug. 3, 1961], No. 38477/61. Class 94(1). A package placed on the table 40 actuates a micro-switch 41 to operate a pneumatic ram 51 having a pusher 43 connected to it, thereby advancing the package into a wall 56 of heatsealable packaging material formed by sealing the transverse edges of upper and lower films 22, 32. The package 65 carries sufficient film to enclose it and when the package 65 is in the position shown the electrical impulse cutting a sealing unit 60 is moved downwardly to contact the part 59 by the ram 62 thereby forming an open-ended sleeve and joining the transverse edges of the films 22, 32 to reconstitute the wall 56. The runners 66 on which the package 65 rests may be vertically adjustable to effect sealing at various positions with respect to the package and if sealing at the side edges is required the cutting and sealing units 75, 76 are operated at the station 73. The films 22, 32 are fed from rolls 22, 32 supported on driven rollers 23, 33 and idle rollers 24, 34 and they are passed over dancing rollers 29, 38 which are counterbalanced by angularly adjustable weights 28. When the rollers 29, 38 rise they operate micro-switches which controls the drive to the roller 23, 33. If desired when the packages have passed through the station 73 they may be propelled by a pusher 93 to a shrink tunnel if the film used is of the heatshrink type.
