Abstract
An apparatus for tightly overwrapping cylindrical or other easily rollable objects D in heat shrinkable sheet material comprises a table A provided with at least one heated area therein and means, e.g. a groove 24 or pins, ridges or the like, for positioning an object D, and a wrapping sheet B, with respect to each other before the sheet B, of heat shrinkable material is wrapped about the object D, the wrapped object then being passed to the heated area(s). In the construction shown the heated area comprises a heated plate 28 along which the wrapped object travels under the action of a pair of driven annular flexible members 36. The members 36 are driven by a motor which is actuated by the wrapped object passing over a feeler 30 of a switch G, the motor being stopped by stops 34 on the member 36 tripping a switch G 2 . Convergent heat sources H 1 are provided at the sides of the heated plate 28. The wrapping sheet B 1 is drawn from a roll C and measured by means of an adjustable stop 26. The sheet B is severed by a cutting tool 18.
