929,001. Internal shoe - drum brakes. DEUTSCHE PERROT-BREMSE G.m.b.H. May 11, 1960 [May 11, 1959], No. 16640/60. Class 103 (1). In an internal shoe-drum brake for vehicles at least two brake shoes 7, 8, each consisting of a brake lining a web 5 and a lining seating flange 6, each shoe bears at one end against an extension or supporting piece 2 of the backplate 1 of the brake, the lining seating flange 6 being characterized in that the end of the shoe is extended at 6<SP>1</SP> beyond the web and is curved arcuately over towards the centre of curvature of the brake shoe to bear against the web end which is also curved arcuately, to provide a bearing surface which bears against the backplate extension piece 2 to ensure that the bearing surface area between the brake shoe and the supporting back-plate with an extension piece 2 is sufficiently large to withstand the loads which occur. The abutment surfaces provided on the back-plate extension piece for supporting the brake shoes are formed as recesses adapted to the shape of the bearing surfaces on the lining seating flanges of the brake shoes. In order to obtain satisfactory guiding on plungers 13 and 14 of the brake-operating hydraulic cylinder 4 a recess 15 is provided on the extended portion 6<SP>1</SP> of flange 6 for receiving the end of a plunger of the operating cylinder.
