Abstract
928,450. Grinding mills. MICROCYCLOMAT CO. Jan. 2, 1962, No. 111/62. Class 59. In a reducing apparatus in which the material to be reduced is suspended in a gaseous medium e.g. air and subjected to the action of a rotor made up of a plurality of rotor reducing units each including a plurality of radial blades 24 disposed between annular discs 28, an annular choke ring 29 is positioned between the blades 24 and the disc 28 at the entrance side of each reducing unit except that immediately adjacent the feed inlet. The ring 29 is supported at the outer ends of spokes 30 extending from a hub 31 keyed to a shaft 13. Reduced material is discharged from the apparatus by means of fan blades 37 carried by a plate 36. In a modification, each choke ring is bolted to a lug on one of the blades and held spaced from the blades by means of a collar. In another modification, each ring is secured to the housing of the apparatus. The choke ring may have a face width of between about of an inch and 1 inch e.g. about ¢ inch, a thickness between about # and # of an inch e.g. about “ inch, and be spaced between about # and # of an inch e.g. about “ inch from the adjacent disc and blade edges. In the cases where the choke rings are rotatable, the axis of the apparatus may be vertical. U.S.A.
