Abstract

926,561. Stove flue-baffles. RADIATION Ltd. Sept. 1, 1959 [Sept. 10, 1958], No. 29037/58. Class 126. A gas fired water heater has heat exchange means comprising a plurality of heat transferring fins and a constriction located beyond the heat exchange means to reduce the rate of flow of combustion products past the fins. As shown, Fig. 1, the constriction is incorporated in a cowl 6 having louvres 7 secured to its side walls 4 and forming passages leading from the fins 2 and decreasing in cross-sectional area. In another embodiment, Fig. 2, incorporating a down-draught diverter, an inverted frusto-cone 12 resting on the fins 2 has parallel end walls of which one 13 is visible and front and back walls 14, 15 respectively which form with the cone 12 restricted outlets 16, 17 for the combustion products. A top wall 18 diverts down draught to passages 19, 20 which may be incorporated in the heater casing.
