926,111. Wrapping wire on terminals. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Aug. 10, 1961 [July 26, 1960], No. 26008/60. Class 83 (4). A motor driven wire-wrapping tool includes drive reversing means and reverse drive indexing means which reversing and indexing means, after a rotational drive by the motor in one direction to perform a wire-wrapping operation, become operative to restore the wrapping bit to a predetermined angular position by a rotational drive by the motor in the opposite direction. Wire, laid in a groove 24 in a rotatable member 22 of a wrapping bit 18, is wrapped around a terminal accommodated in a bore 23 in the member 22 upon rotation of the member 22 in a fixed sleeve 25 by a spindle 17 coupled to a pneumatic motor 2 through a clutch. The motor 2 is driven in the wrapping direction upon depression of a finger-operated member 10 carrying a stud 9 engaging a helical peripheral groove 8 in a collar 7 actuating a valve 3 to move it from a position in which the motor 2 is caused to rotate in a reverse direction. On completion of the wire-wrapping operation the member 10 is released so that a spring 17 moves it and the stud 9 to actuate the valve 3 to reverse the direction of rotation of the motor. The spindle 17 is then rotated back until a pawl 30, pivoted on an indexing hub 19 on the spindle, engages a stop 32 thus locating the groove 24 in alignment with a lip 28 on the sleeve 25.
