Abstract

925,324. Consolidating scrap; shearing. DONKIN & CO. Ltd. March 1, 1962 [April 12, 1961], No. 13093/61. Class 83 (4). A baling press for scrap metal or the like has side walls 12 with wavy or zig-zag edges 20 which co-operate with cutting members 22 on a lid 16 to trim overhanging scrap. The lid is hinged at 18 to slide blocks 25 and is actuated by an hydraulic ram 17. The front wall 13 also has a cutting edge 23, Fig. 2 (not shown), co-operating with a cutting member 24 on the lid. After closing the latter, the scrap is compressed by a plate 14 operated by an hydraulic ram 15. Automatic feeds means may be provided for the incoming scrap and the consolidated scrap may be removed automatically. The lid may include a side wall of the press.
