Abstract
924,936. Casting composite articles. STRICO GES. FUR METALLURGIE UND WARMETECHNIK. Nov. 2, 1960 [Dec. 2, 1959], No. 37686/60. Class 83 (1). [Also in Group XIII] Steel extension sleeves 3 are secured to the ends of cast iron heat recuperator tubes 1 which for this purpose are provided with grooves 4 into which the sleeve ends are introduced and firmly cast in position by means of a metal alloy, preferably one in which the melting-point is higher than the operating temperature of the recuperator but lower than the melting-point of the cast iron so that a tube may be replaced when necessary by melting out the alloy. The sleeves permit relative expansion in a bank of recuperator tubes in which adjacent sleeves are interconnected by welding together at points 5 as shown.
