Abstract
The invention comprises 1,2,4-oxadiazoles of the general formula <FORM:0924608/IV(a)/1> or salts thereof, wherein R represents an aryl or aralkyl group optionally substituted by halogen or a nitro, alkyl, hydroxy or alkoxy group, or a pyridyl group, n is an integer from 1 to 4 and R1 and R2 each represent hydrogen, an alkyl or an aralkyl group or together may be alkylene, oxaalkylene or aza-alkylene radicals, which lastnamed may be N-substituted by alkyl, hydroxyalkyl or carbamido groups, the alkylene oxa-alkylene or aza-alkylene groups in conjunction with the adjacent N-atom forming heterocyclic groups, and the preparation thereof by reacting amidoxime derivatives of the general formula: <FORM:0924608/IV(a)/2> with amines R1R2NH, preferably by first forming the 1,2,4-oxadiazole: <FORM:0924608/IV(a)/3> by heat and then aminating, or by reacting an amidoxime R,C(=NH)-NHOH with a dialkylaminocarboxylic acid chloride. N-Chloroacylamidoximes are prepared by reacting an amidoxime with a chloroalkanecarboxylic acid chloride.
