Abstract
The invention comprises substituted triazoles of the general tautomeric formul : <FORM:0741228/IV(a)/1> and the corresponding 3-acylamino compounds, wherein R represents an alkyl, alkenyl, aralkyl, cycloalkyl or aryl group; and a process for their preparation by treating a guanidino thiourea of formula R.NH.CS.NH.NH.C(NH2) : NH or acid salt thereof with a base, and thereafter acylating the product if the 3-acylamino derivatives are required. Specified bases are alkali metal hydroxides and carbonates, pyridine and triethylamine. In examples: (1) 4-ethyl - 3 - amino - 5 - mercapto - 4 : 1 : 2-triazole is prepared from N-ethyl-N1-guanidino thiouea hydrochloride, nitrate or acetate by refluxing with (a) sodium hydroxide solution, or (b) pyridine, and acidifying the product. The corresponding 4-methyl-, 4-iso-propyl-, 4-allyl-, 4-benzyl-, 4-cyclohexyl- and 4-phenyl-3 - amino - 5 - mercapto - 4 : 1 : 2 - triazoles are likewise obtained by method (a); (2) 4-allyl-3-acetamino- and 4-allyl-3-benzoylamino-5-mercapto-4 : 1 : 2-triazole are prepared by acetylation and benzoylation of the 3-amino compound.
