Abstract

923,244. Reflectors for lamps; electric infrared heaters. R. La V. STRAWICK. Dec. 9, 1960 [Dec. 10, 1959], No. 42537/60. Classes 39 (2), 39 (3) and 75 (4). A light fixture for use with a source of visible and invisible radiant energy e.g. a tubular quartz-type lamp, includes a reflector made up of a plurality of curved sections forming a substantially continuous reflecting surface and a source of visible and invisible radiant energy, the sections of the reflector each consisting of a transparent carrier and a coating which will reflect either the visible or the invisible radiation and transmit the other. In the form shown, a tubular lamp is arranged in front of a reflector 13a made up of sections 27a forming a part circular reflector, each section having a coating transmitting infra-red light and reflecting visible light. The lamp may have a reflector 39 in contact with the envelope to reflect infra-red radiation back on to the source. Alternatively the reflector 39 may be spaced from the lamp. The ends of the tube may be provided with reflecting discs 37 to prevent overheating of the tube end caps. A bell-shaped reflector for use with incandescent lamps is also described.
