Abstract

[Also in Division G2] A lamp includes a reflector comprising a transparent substrate carrying a plurality of layers of selectively reflecting material which transmits all of the invisible radiation and part of the visible radiation of the source of radiant energy, such that the light column formed from the combined reflected visible radiation and the radiation directly emitted from the source has a predetermined colour temperature which is different from that of the source. As shown in Fig. 1, the reflector 12 is made up from two parabolic sections 12a and 13b consisting of a substrate 14 and a vacuum deposited coating 15 of the selectively reflecting layers, which may alternatively be on the back of the substrate. The source 13 may be a quartz iodine lamp having a colour temperature of 2950‹ K, and the light column 17 may have a colour temperature of 3200-3800‹ K.
