922,745. Determining fineness of textile fibres. F. HADWICH. Nov. 29, 1960 [Dec. 23, 1959], No. 40994/60. Class 106 (2). In apparatus for determining the fineness of textile fibres by measuring the resistance offered to a current of air by a test flock compressed to constant packing density in a measuring chamber 6 with perforated end and perforated piston, a weak current of air is applied to the flock through a pipe line 2, under control of a valve 3, to obtain a measurement on a meter 7 and, after rotation of a three-way cock 5, a strong air current is applied through pipe line 4 to eject the flock and clear the ducts and chamber. The dispersion air currents may be derived from a single reservoir 1 containing air under pressure or from separate vacuum and pressure reservoirs (Fig. 2).
