Abstract

1291497 Measuring density or porosity of moulds IRODAGEPIPARI ES FINOMMECHANIKAI VALLALAT 24 Nov 1969 [23 Nov 1968] 57334/69 Heading G1S A body 1 surrounds an air chamber 5a having an exterior water jacket 5b in which a bell jar 7 is positioned to compress air within the chamber 5a. Air from this chamber is supplied via a tube 15a and a tube 15 to a testing head 16 which is pressed on to the mould to be tested as shown, so that air passing through the pores of the mould produces a pressure variation in a tube 17 connected to pressure gauges 19, 23 which indicate the density of the mould. The bell jar has a handle 3 which when lifted raises a weighted shaft 10 Fig. 2, and lifts a valve 11 in the top of the jar to allow air to fill the jar. In Fig. 3 the test head 16 is fed by air through tube 15 via one of two differently sized rotatably selected holes a, b and the ring 32 is pressed into contact with the mould by a spring 31. The air-pressure in chamber 52 varies according to the pressure drop or air escape through the mould and the gauges 19, 23 register accordingly.
