Abstract

1337379 Leak testing LEYBOLD-HERAEUSVERWALTUNG GmbH 13 July 1972 [16 July 1971] 32912/72 Heading G1S A hollow body 2 is leak tested by enclosing it in a chamber 1, evacuating both the chamber and the body by means of a pump 7, admitting a metered quantity of a test gas to either the body or the chamber subsequently admitting a metered quantity of a diluting gas into the body or chamber respectively to raise the pressure therein, and monitoring for the presence of test gas in the chamber or body respectively. As shown in Fig. 1, test gas and then air are introduced into the body 2 via conduits 8 and 9 respectively and the presence of test gas in the chamber 1 is tested for by test gas detector 3. A pressure gauge 4 is provided on chamber 1.
