921,818. Capacitor microphones. R. GORIKE. Oct. 7, 1960 [Oct. 9, 1959], No. 34401/60. Class 40 (4). A capacitor microphone having a figure of eight shaped directional characteristic comprises two parallel diaphragms 1, 2, connected electrically in opposition, placed at a small distance from multi-apertured electrodes 3, 4, air chambers behind each electrode being connected by one or more channels 7, the number of apertures and the dimensions of the channels being such that inertial damping predominates. A gain/response curve for such a microphone is indicated in Fig. 2 and various combinations of microphones embodying the invention for obtaining higher orders of directivity are described with reference to Figs. 3-10 (not shown).
