Abstract

921,704. Idler roller assemblies for belt conveyers. FISHER & LUDLOW Ltd. Dec. 24, 1959 [Dec. 29, 1958], No. 41823/58. Class 78 (1). An idler roller assembly for an endless belt conveyer comprises a shaft 12, which may be a pre-bowed resilient rod, on which are mounted a number of belt supporting idler rollers 13 as described in Specification 806,605, the shaft being suspended between a pair of deformable elongated elements such as cables 28, extending longitudinally of the conveyer by means which prevent the shaft from rotating. Each end of the shaft is provided with a threaded extension 15, Fig. 3, on which a limb 19 of a supporting member 18 is secured between an internallythreaded sleeve 16 and a nut 20. The member 18 is provided with a recess 24 having tapered faces 25 which engage the cable 28. The faces 25 have a width in the longitudinal direction of the conveyer of more than twice the diameter of the cable 28, and are provided with ribs 29 which locally compress or penetrate into the surface of the cable 28 to locate the adjacent end of the roller shaft against movement along the length of the cable 28.
