Abstract

1282284 Rollers SIEMENS AG 15 July 1969 [9 Oct 1968] 35636/69 Heading F2U [Also in Division G1] An expandable roller, which may have a cable 32 wound thereon for use in a draughting machine (see Division G1) comprises two coaxial frusto conical members 21, 22 end-to-end with their smaller diameter ends facing, adjustably urged together (e.g. by a nut 30 opposing a spring 28) and carrying on their conical faces a resilient ring 23 (e.g. of plastics or of a plurality of axially parallel members or a ring having axial slits 35 each extending at least half the axial length alternatively from the ends of the ring). The ends of the cable 32 may be anchored in sleeves 24, 25 in the roller, by grub-screws 26, 27. The nut 30 may be rotated on an extension 21b of the member 21, when the latter is held by flats 21a.
