Abstract

921,703. Photo-electric headlamps testing. NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION. Sept. 15, 1959 [July 7, 1958], No. 21700/58. Class 40 (3). The total emission from a vehicle headlamp is measured by allowing the beam therefrom to pass through a diffusing screen a predetermined distance from the lamp, be reflected from a diffuse reflector and fall on a photo-cell. A tube 7 is held against the headlamp and light therefrom passes through a diffuser 4 and is reflected by an opal plate 8 to a barrier layer photo-cell 9. The output of the cell energizes a meter 10, the pointer of which is illuminated through a transparent holder 12 by light in the box 1. Various scales are provided, for different lamps, and these may be selectable by labelled triggers.
