Abstract

921,272. Rectifying. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. April 6, 1961 [April 7, 1960], No. 12414/60. Class 38 (2). [Also in Group XL (c)] To control a number of semi-conductor controlled rectifiers disposed in parallel the firing of one provides a signal to fire the others. As shown, Fig. 5, rectifiers 3, 4, 5, 6 each having a cathode resistor R3, R4, R5, R6 are connected in parallel. On triggering rectifier 3 a voltage is developed across R3 which is applied as a triggering pulse to rectifiers 4, 5 and 6 through resistors R7, R8, R9. In an alternative arrangement (Fig. 6, not shown) a cascade firing sequence is disclosed, the firing of one rectifier providing a triggering signal for the next rectifier in sequence. The gate resistors R7, R8, R9 may be dispensed with.
