920,952. Crank-shafts. VILLIERS ENGINEERING CO. Ltd., and B. HOOPER. Dec. 4, 1961 [Dec. 16, 1960], No. 43379/60. Class 80 (2). In a crank-shaft with a ball or roller big end bearing 14 located between axial thrust washers 17, the shaft is of one-piece construction and of such approximate uniform cross-section that the components may be assembled by passing the first washer and the bearing eye over a journal 11 and web 12 to encircle the crank-pin 13, inserting the bearing balls or rollers axially over the exposed surface of the crank-pin, and then passing the second thrust washer over the journal and web. The bearing 14 and washers 17 are located between balance weights 19 of circular form and provided with circular recesses for the washers 17 and openings 20, permitting them to be passed over the journal to engage the sides of the webs 12, to which they are secured by bolts 22, 23.
