Abstract
920,819. Liquid heating apparatus. YUBA CONSOLIDATED INDUSTRIES Inc. May 26, 1961 [June 17, 1960], No. 19066/61. Class 64 (1). A heater for a liquid such as oil comprises a cylindrical bank of vertical tubes heated by gases from high-pressure burners placed at the lower end of the heater, the gases being discharged into a flue containing tube coils connected to the tubes of the cylindrical bank, and the diameter of this cylindrical bank is substantially smaller than e.g. one half of the diameter of a surrounding casing in which are provided low-pressure burners. The oil to be heated is introduced to the ten preheating coil banks 32 through the pipe 40, and after preheating is led via connecting pipes 45 to ten groups of tubes 15, each group consisting of four tubes in series there being one inlet, one outlet and two intermediate tubes. The inlet tube is connected to the pipe 45 and the outlet to the outlet connection 60 and manifold 61 while each of the intermediate tubes is connected to either the inlet or the outlet tubes by jumpers 18 which are so disposed so as not to suffer from overheating due to the high-pressure burners 20. Five of the groups have their outlets in manifold 61, and five in another manifold as in Fig. 4 (not shown). The tubes 15 are positioned so that the flames from the low-pressure burners 25 do not impinge on the tubes. The burners 25 are placed in parallel circles around the heater and have an independent control valve 70 for each circle; also each individual heater has a separate control valve 75. Specification 757,762 is referred to.
