Abstract

920,102. Fork lift trucks. RANSOMES SIMS & JEFFRIES Ltd. Sept. 29, 1961 [Oct. 6, 1960], No. 34338/60. Class 78 (3). The mast assembly 20 of a lift truck is supported on rollers 22 running in channel-section straddle legs 4 and is traversed along the legs 4 by means of a lazy-tongs linkage 38, 39 actuated by an hydraulic ram 70. The free ends of the rear pair of links 38 are pivoted to blocks 52 which are slidable in a transverse channel 53 secured to the truck frame, and the free ends of the front pair of links 39 are pivoted to blocks 55 which are slidable in a channel 60 secured to the bottom of the mast assembly. A clevis 41, secured to the ram piston-rod 72, is pivoted to the links 38 at 40 and is provided with a part 82 which is guided in a channel member 81 secured to the truck frame. The forward part 2 of the chassis, comprising the legs 4 supported on wheels 5, and the rearward part 3 of the chassis, supported on a steerable drive wheel 15 and a castor 14, are pivotally connected by a hinge pin 11. In modifications (not shown), the lazy-tongs linkage comprises a single pair or more than two pairs of links.
