Abstract
<PICT:0920090/III/1> <PICT:0920090/III/2> Degassing of liquids can occur in a liquid pumping system in which de-gasified liquid is removed from a tank 10 connected to a source of gas-containing liquid through a non-return valve 14 by a pump 22 controlling a valve 20, the liquid being delivered from the pump under pressure into a storage tank 16 having a valve controlled outlet. As de-gasified liquid is removed from the tank there is created therein a partial vacuum so that during and after the operation of the pump 22 liquid is drawn into the tank past the non-return valve 14 to release gas on entering the tank until the liquid in the tank is replenished to the original quantity therein. The released gas is removed from the tank 10 in a suitable manner.
