919,698. Local viewing. ELTRO GES. FUR STRAHLUNGSTECHNIK, m.b.H. June 1, 1959 [June 3, 1958; Nov. 8, 1958], No. 18564/59. Class 40 (3). [Also in Group XXI] Sighting equipment for a portable firearm comprises an infra-red sight 12 in which an image-converter 23 is operated from a miniature high-tension supply 11 fed from a low-voltage supply 15 and carried either by the sight, at 31-32-33, or by a replaceable forearm-part 10 which carries the sight. The supply 15 is from a portable battery carried on the rifleman which feeds, via a switch 14, the high-tension supply 11 and an infra-red searchlight 13 on the sight. An alternative low-voltage source is provided on the part 10 which optionally feeds the high-tension when the searchlight is not in use. The sight consists of collecting lenses 24, 25, a correcting lens 26, the image converter 23 and viewing lenses 27, 28 all in a tube 22. The high-tension system comprises a transistoroscillator in circuit with a resistance and capacitor in parallel and with the primary winding of a transformer. The secondary winding of the transformer feeds a multi-stage cascade of capacitors and transistor-rectifiers which multiply the voltage from 1 kv. to between 8 to 14 kv. depending on the number of stages used. In Fig. 2 the oscillator and transformer are at 31, the capacitors at 32 and the rectifiers at 33.
