Abstract

892,573. Condenser charging arrangements for photo-flash arrangements. INTERMETALL GESELLSCHAFT FUR METALLURGIE UND ELEKTRONIK. March 19, 1959 [April 11, 1958], No. 9627/59. Class 38 (4). Photo-flash apparatus comprises a capacitor Cb which is charged from a direct current source Q by way of an oscillator including a transistor T 1 and a transformer W 1 , W 2 , W 3 , the arrangement being such that when the capacitor Cb becomes fully charged an indicator lamp A ignites whereupon a control transistor Ts becomes conductive to short circuit the base-emitter circuit of the oscillator transistor T 1 so disabling the oscillator. A fall in the charge of the capacitor Cb then causes the lamp A to extinguish whereby the oscillator once more starts oscillating to bring the charge on the capacitor Cb up to its full value. Closure of the camera shutter switch S energizes a trigger transformer T whereupon the capacitor Cb discharges into a gas-discharge tube B to produce a flash. A capacitor Ch charges up over a diode D 2 and assists the disablement of the oscillator by impressing on the base of the transistor T 1 a positive potential relative to the emitter. A battery may be connected in parallel with the capacitor Ch to obviate the effect of temperature on the transistor T 1 .
