Abstract

919,657. Sifting apparatus. PROPERT PTY. Ltd., C. E. June 5, 1961 [July 26, 1960], No. 20217/61. Class 117. A flour &c. sifter includes an open-ended container 3 removably housing one or more concave gauze screens 6 each supporting an agitator 11 manually oscillated about a vertical axis by a lever 17 pivoted at 18 to a handle 16. As shown, there are two screens joined at their reinforced edges 8 by circumferentially spaced webs 10, and a rod 12 of rectangular section extends through the screens and agitators and has a crank 14 to which is attached a rod 21 pivoted at 20 to the operating lever. The latter is urged in one direction by a spring 23, and the lower agitator is urged against its screen by a spring 12A. The screening assembly is held between grooves 4, 5 and a circlip 15 is provided in the lower groove.
