Abstract
919,131. Rotary I.C. engines. DAIMLERBENZ A.G. May 1, 1961 [May 5, 1960], No. 15719/61. Class 110 (2). A rotary I.C. engine comprising a piston 11, Fig. 1, rotating in an engine housing 10 while its centre 12 rotates about the engine shaft axis 13 by means of an internally-toothed gear 14 fast with the piston and an externally stationary gear 15, includes a rotary reversing valve 18. The valve 18 formed with axially extending parallel passages 22, 23, Fig. 3, and cross-over passages 24, 25, in one position connects a combustion air or mixture passage 16 and exhaust passage 17 to passages 19, 20, respectively, in the engine casing and in another position reverses the connections so that the passage 16 is connected to the passage 20 and the passage 17 to the passage 19. One or other of fuel injection nozzles 26, 27 supplied by a pump 33 through a change-over valve 30, and of sparking-plugs 28, 29 fed by an ignition coil 35 through a switch 31 are used alternatively, depending upon the direction of rotation, the valve 18 change-over valve 30 and switch 31 being interconnected and operable by a common hand wheel 38.
