Abstract

The invention comprises anthraquinone dyes of formulae:-<FORM:0918968/IV (b)/1> wherein R and R1 represent alkyl radicals containing 1-4 carbon atoms and R2 stands for a hydrogen atom or an alkyl radical containing 1-4 carbon atoms. They are prepared by reacting the corresponding amino-substituted dyes with thiophosgene in aqueous and/or organic medium. The dyes may be used to colour wool, polyamide and polyurethane fibres in blue shades. The dyes may also be used to colour cellulose fibres in conjunction with acid-binding agents. Examples of the preparation of the dyes and dyeing processes are specified. Specifications 422,930 and 896,590 are referred to. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 896,590.
