Abstract

Black dyeings and prints are obtained on cellulosic textile materials by the vat method using a dyestuff of the formula <FORM:0904997/IV (b)/1> in which R1 and R3 each represent an aryl radical and R2 and R4 each represent an alkyl radical having at most 6 carbon atoms or a hydrogen atom. Particularly, R1 and R3 may be substituted or preferably unsubstituted benzene radicals while R2 and R4 may be hydrogen atoms. Dyeing may be carried out at 60-80 DEG C. in the presence of an electrolyte such as sodium chloride and the reducing agent may be sodium hydrosulphite. The dyestuffs may be prepared by p reacting amino-dibenzanthrone with cyanuric chloride and reacting the resulting dichloro-triazine compound with an aromatic amine. Examples are given in which cotton, regenerated cellulose and spun rayon fabrics are dyed various shades of black.
