Abstract

The invention comprises water-soluble reactive dyes of formula <FORM:1045685/C4-C5/1> wherein D is the radical of a water-soluble dye, X is -O-, -S- or -NR-, R being hydrogen, alkyl which may be substituted, aralkyl, cycloalkyl or aryl, Y+ is a hydrazinium radical, the nitrogen atom by which it is attached to the carbon atom of the triazine ring being bound to two hydrocarbon radicals which may be substituted or forming together with a divalent radical part of a heterocyclic ring and n is an integer. The dyes are prepared by condensing a watersoluble dye containing at least one 4-halogeno-6-hydroxyl-1,3,5-triazinyl-radical with a suitable asymmetrical hydrazine or N-aminoheterocyclic compound such as N,N-dimethylhydrazine or N-aminopyrrolidine. Alternatively compounds containing the triazinyl radical specified above which are subsequently converted into dyes by azo coupling or condensation may be used. The dyes may be used to colour leather, wool, silk, nylon and cellulose fibres by the usual reactive dye processes. In examples the preparation of monoazo and anthraquinone dyes is described.
