Abstract

917,984. Tanks. CHICAGO BRIDGE & IRON CO. Aug. 31, 1960 [Dec. 3, 1959], No. 29948/60. Class 69 (1). A flexible weather seal extending across the annular space between the edge of a tank cover 10, Fig. 2, and the tank wall 15 comprises a fabric envelope 12 containing compressible resilient material 13 and is clamped to a horizontal surface as by an annular bar 14 offset inwardly of the edge so that the seal is urged upwardly against sagging. The envelope 12 may be of cloth coated with synthetic rubber such as neoprene and the filler 13 may comprise glass fibre with a binder of phenolformaldehyde resin or may be a pad of synthetic acetate fibres or of flexible polyurethane foam.
