Abstract

1,094,690. Seals for tanks with floating roofs. BRITISH PETROLEUM CO. Ltd. and A. CHAMPAGNAT. June 29, 1965 [July 10, 1964], No. 27458/65. Heading E1T. A seal for the floating roof of a storage tank comprises a flexible envelope 4 which is provided with a dependant skirt 5 and filled with compressible solid material 2 such as polyurethane foam. The skirt is sealingly clamped to the upper part 6 of the roof by the bolted arrangement, 8, 9, 10, 12 shown and is sealingly urged against the wall 3 of the tank by a series of spring-loaded supports 14, see also Fig. 2 (not shown) or helical springs, see Fig. 3 (not shown).
